Mapa de Ruido

inarticulado, confuso, molesto

- 2nd edition: 2024 -

Second edition of the International Noise and DIY Electronics festival "Mapa de Ruido" (Noise Map) 2024 in Majorca, Spain.

The Festival

Mapa de Ruido (noise map) is an international festival of electronic and virtual art, a meeting of artists and artisans of the DIY and experimental scene, with the aim to show, share and learn from their collective works in fields such as music, visual art, interactive installations and to encourage a dialogue in an amalgamated group of artists and people.

A week-long artist focused festival featuring 20+ Majorca based and international artists, working together for a whole week in an open space, collaborating and creating new devices, art installations and performing live.

A space will be open for the general public in weekdays for professional and public workshops and presentations, while the weekend will be focused on live performances and concerts in various venues, with the newly built devices.

The weekdays will be featuring artistic installations in various spaces of Majorca, as well as various professional and open workshops on electronic and noise music, like building your own electronic noise music devices or video synthesizers.

More artists, more art, more places: the second edition

In this second edition, we increased the number of venues for the concerts and live music, as well as increasing the number of art installations and an expanding collaboration network in Majorca.

But what is Noise, and what is DIY electronics?

We propose an idea of noise as an artistic expression, not necessarily unpleasant, that aims to leave a mark in the listener, without a closed, artificial, academic definition of music genre.

Imagine a multi-sensory form of electronic and analog art that tries to investigate, capture or synthesize "noises" to compose music, images and experiences, sensory or mental.

The DIY electronics scene tries to use simple electronic and physical elements to build devices in a self-sufficient manner, featuring many recycled materials as well as custom designs. Helping, sharing and using open-knowledge is a fundamental trait of the scene.

Who are we

We are visual, audio, performance artists, technicians and academics active in the Majorcan social culture. We organized the last Mapa de Ruido festival in Palma, Majorca in 2023 and this year the team grew considerably, as did our experience.
